The logs don't show what commit the bootanim files got removed, but the date for this commit (0e2d281) is "May 21 17:15:30 2013 -0700" (Guessing the "-0700" means 7 hours before UTC?) so it happened at some point afterwards: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/0e2d281
The log for bootanim0.raw shows it was added "Tue Oct 21 07:00:00 2008 -0700": https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+log/0e2d281/core/res/assets/sounds/bootanim0.raw
Android 1.1 came out February 9, 2009 so that should be the first version with this sound (if it's actually used): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history
For some reason Google doesn't let you download the raw files, only a base64 encoded version, here's how to decode them: https://github.com/google/gitiles/issues/106
According to this XDA post, the files are 44.1khz 8-bit mono: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/boot-splash-sounds.501174/
I imported them into Audacity (File > Import > Raw Data... with settings "Signed 8-bit PCM", no endianness, 1 channel, sample rate 44100hz) and I get the same audio as this sample If I put bootanim1 before bootanim0, but it loops better if bootanim0 comes first. Here's both bootanims combined (0 first): https://sndup.net/sp3x/
The bootanim.raw files can also be played with ffplay with this command: ffplay -f s8 -ar 44.1k -ac 1 bootanim0.raw
To the sample poster, where did you get this audio? Were the bootanim files already converted to a listenable format like .mp3 and in a system folder on the phone or did you convert them yourself?
