"Please ignore the audio file I uploaded. I had to put something but can't sing for the life of me. Trust me, If i even hummed it, it will just throw you off track more. I'm going crazy trying to find the name and artist of this song I heard way back in 2019. It was played on the local college radio station in Beaumont, TX on a show called "Needledrop". It was the second song played on the show. This show was aired on 3/8/19 and then reran on 3/15/19. The DJ of the show offers tracklists on the radio station's website, however, not all tracks are listed, this being one of them. I've contacted the radio program's DJ more than one time and he won't help at all. I've only heard thgis song twice in my entire life and it was about 3 years ago so I don't have much info to offer you other than a few lyrics I can remember and a brief description of the song according to my perception. So here it is... I checked this off as being a "pop" song but it's not bubble gum radio friendly pop. It's more of a modern sounding type of dark independent pop/electronic song with female vocals. Think maybe Grimes, Kelli Ali, M.I.A. and Halsey. It's kind of like something you may hear on KEXP or The World Cafe or at Lollapallooza. and the only lyrics I am able to remember are the following... "still, I feel you running up my spine and when we meet it feels like a deja vu....that special kind of voodoo that you do" and then towards the end of the song I remember her saying... "strange reality...sweet melody". That's it. That's all I have. Oh one more clue I can give you is this...back in the 90's there was a band called the Sneaker Pimps. Remember them? They were really popular. I still love them. Anyway, the female lead singer ended up leaving the band and doing her own music as "Kelli Ali". It was sorta folksy...some electronic. But dance music DJs and producers of the late 90's/early 2000's absolutely LOVED Kelli Ali and attempted to make her voice a main staple in dance music at the time. She worked with a handful of dance music producers that released some serious hits with her on vocals. One of them was Satoshi Tomiie who produced the track "Up In Flames". If you were listening to dance in the late 90's/early 2000's, you know the song. It has a very distinct melody in which she sings the lyrics. For a duration of the track, you will hear Kelli sing "so what kind of voodoo do you do to make me feel this way?". Once again, it's a very distinct way of singing these words that she has when she sings it. Well, in this song that I'm searching for...there is possibly a relation between this artist and Kelli Ali. Perhaps Kelli Ali is an artist this artist likes or was influenced by? perhaps the artist of this song IS Kelli ALI? i don't know. but for some reason, in this song, when the artist sings the lyrics, "that special kind of voodoo that you do", she totally changes up her entire style of singing and sings only those words in a way exactly like Kelli Ali sings in "Up In Flames". This def can't be a coinsidence. It's intentional and sort of like a quick nod of respect to Kelli Ali. atleast that's the way I took it. Who knows, maybe this artist has never even heard Kelli Ali's "Up In Flames" but her producer stole the idea from Kelli Ali and had her sing it that way. The possibilities are endless really. But anyway, thats all I have on this. Please...I'm begging yall. Help me."
