  It just dawned on me that it *might* be Tool. The guitar tune is drop-d, and it should be from 90's.
  
  Also thank you for the warning, I had the impression that it was forbidden to submit the same sample over and over, rather than different samples from the same song. deleting the other one now.

  Thank you for the suggestion Nanah. I used to listen to SOAD around the same times but it wasn't them. It feels like it might have been a progressive rock / metal band with a similar sound to Dream Theater but I can't be sure.
