"The sample you hear is from Rule #21 - Memento Mori by Fish in a Birdcage. It's used at the beginning of the song, however, I feel like I have heard this same melody somewhere else and I'd love to find that other song. The Fish in a Birdcage song continues quite differently melodically after this intro, so I thought it's maybe a sample, but I couldn't find any credits that would suggest it is. Any ideas and suggestions of songs with similar melodies are very much appreciated."

"I stumbled upon this inquiry on Reddit. The original poster had recorded this song in a store with their phone about 10 years ago (hence the poor quality recording). I'm posting it here because it's still unresolved and I am looking for it now, too. Clearest part starts at around 1:19. People have suggested artists such as David Byrne, Magnetic Fields, The Cure, Jens Lekman, Talk Talk, Black (Colin Vearncombe), Echo and The Bunnymen, Flock of Seagulls etc. Any help is appreciated. Edit: Adding that I think some of the lyrics might be something along the lines of: "How did I [stay?/end up?] by your side" and (Chorus, I think): "This is how I [make you feel?], you feel like [we've grown apart?]" But so far I had no luck when searching for these lyrics Thanks again"
